Shahi Degi Qorma Recipe is a contribution of “Suzi n Shaz Bites” for Food Recipe Contest on Den of Delights.


  • Salt 1tsp or as or your taste
  • Chicken 1kg
  • Coriander Powder 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 2 tbsp
  • Onion small 3 or very big 1+1/2
  • Black Cardamom (Bari Illaichi) 4
  • Clove (Long) 7
  • Red Chilli Powder 1+1/2 tbsp or to taste
  • Turmeric Powder 1/12 tsp
  • Yogurt 3/4 cup
  • Nutmeg 1/4 tsp
  • Almond (paste) 3 tbs
  • Bay Leaf (Taiz Pattay) 3
  • Cinnamon (stick) 1 inch
  • All Spice 1/4 tsp
  • Green Cardamom 5
  • Cooking Oil 1 cup
  • kewra 1 tsp


Step 1

In a pot add oil,fry chopped onions till golden brown, take it out and crushed it, set aside.

Step 2

Then in same oil add cinnamon stick, cloves, black cardamoms, green cardamoms and bay leaves, fry.

Step 3

Now add meat and ginger garlic paste and fry it well until it shows golden/red colour.

Step 4

After that add yogurt, almonds paste and all masalas fry them thoroughly 20-25 minutes on medium flame.

Step 5

Add water as required (i used 3 glasses of water) and cook it well until it gets tender.

Step 6

Add Rooh kewra and fried crushed onions in degi qorma pot and keep the dish on dum for 25 minutes.

Step 7

Take a lilttle piece of cinnamon stick, 2 black cardamoms, 3 green cardamoms and 4 cloves crush them in grander dry mill/sill batta/hawan dasta (i used dry mill) remove the skins of cardamoms and add this powder in Shahi Degi Qorma, cover the lid again for 5 minutes.

Step 8

Serve it Hot with Nan, Sheermaal and Taftan.
