Pita bread is the favorite bread for those who love fast sandwiches. its very light and soft bread.

Ingredients

  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Yeast (khameer) 1 sachet
  • Plain Flour 1/2 kg
  • Baking Powder 2 tsp

Method

Step 1

Pour the packet of yeast and sugar in the luke warm water, mix well.

Step 2

Allow the yeast to activate, setting it aside for 10-15 minutes.

Step 3

Then, mix the plain flour,baking powder and salt together in a separate bowl.

Step 4

Mix well and keep aside.

Step 5

When yeast turned active then put it in flour mixture bowl, stir slowly until the dough forms.

Step 6

Now knead the dough in the bowl for about 5 minutes, adding flour if needed until dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 7

Let pitas dough rise, wrapped on plastic sheets for approximately 2 hours.

Step 8

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

Step 9

Shape dough into small balls about 2 inches in diameter.

Step 10

Flatten the balls slightly and roll out.

Step 11

Put each piece of rolled dough onto a baking tray.

Step 12

Then bake the bread for 10 minutes or until very lightly browned.

Step 13

Pita bread is ready to be used.
