Dhaka Chicken Karahi – Like all Dhakan recipes simple ingredients are used. Dhaka chicken karahi does have a distinct and wonderful flavor, Crushed spices are used instead of powder and tomatoes, green chillies are added towards the end, that are soft yet”


  • Chicken 1 kg
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 3 tbsp
  • Onion sliced 2 medium
  • Green Chillies 4-5
  • Crushed Cumin (Zeera) 1 tbsp
  • Crushed Coriander (Dhania) 1 tbsp
  • Spices Powder (Garam Masala) 1 tbsp
  • Red Chili 2 tbsp
  • Water 1 cup
  • Tomatoes Chopped 4
  • Cooking Oil 1/2 cup


Step 1

Heat oil in a pan and saute ginger garlic paste in it for a few seconds.

Step 2

Add chicken and sauté.

Step 3

When chicken changes its color, add sliced ginger, cumin, coriander, red chili flakes and salt and mix.

Step 4

Lower flame and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 5

Add sliced green chilies, onions, tomatoes and fresh coriander and stir.

Step 6

When all vegetables are tender, add all spices powder and stir well.

Step 7

Dhaka Karahi is ready to serve.
