Chicken Karahi is one of the most popular recipe in Pakistan. This traditional recipe has allot of spices in it. Enjoy it with naan.


  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Chicken 1
  • Cumin Powder 1 tsp
  • Red Pepper (Crushed) 2 tsp
  • Tomato (cubed) 5-6
  • Black Pepper 1 tsp
  • Coriander (Hara dhania) 1 tbsp
  • Yogurt 250 gm
  • Garlic (chopped) 6 cloves
  • Green Chillies 6-7
  • Ginger (julian cut) 1/2 inch piece
  • Coriander Leaves Chopped 1/2 bunch
  • Kasori Methi 1-1.5 tbsp
  • Garam Masala Powder 1 tsp
  • Butter 100 g


Step 1

Roast cumin seeds and coriander, then grind them.

Step 2

In another pan, add garlic paste and ginger paste (half quantity) in oil.

Step 3

Sauté ginger-garlic and then add chicken in it to fry.

Step 4

Fry the tomatoes and add salt, coriander, cumin and red pepper.

Step 5

Cover the lid and cook them on medium heat till tomatoes soften.

Step 6

Beat the yogurt to avoid lumps.

Step 7

Now add chicken and yogurt.

Step 8

Mix it well and then cook it for 5 minutes.

Step 9

Add garam masala, crushed black pepper in the chicken and mix well.

Step 10

Cook it for a while.

Step 11

Then add dry fenugreek, green chilies, coriander and butter.

Step 12

Add ginger paste (the reaining half).

Step 13

Cover the lid and leave on low-medium heat for 6-7 minutes.

Step 14

Dish it out and serve it hot with bread (or naan).
